Unit: LDRP and Level 2 NICU Notes Obtained by: A Barna • L&D Beds: 10 LDRP beds, 1 c section suite on unit, occasionally use OR • Triage beds: 4 triage beds • Postpartum beds: see above 10 LDRP beds • Births per day, per year: approx 30-60 births/month; average nursery census is • Certs: BLS, ACLS, NRP and EFM intermeidate or above for LDRP; Nursery is required to have BLS, NRP and Stable • Ratios: Follow ACOG guidelines • FHM System: Currenty watch child; in next 6 months will be watch child or OBIX • EMR: Meditech • Charge Nurse: Yes, they take patients (usually post partum patients); run charge nurse for Nursery and one for LDRP • Nurse Aides/OB tech: Techs--have 2 LPNS and 2 OR techs, they help w/ c sections, secretary duties, discharges, etc • Weekend Requirement: Every other • Call Requirement: Travelers do not take call • Holidays: Rotate in w/ perm staff • Scrub Color: Forest green pants, white tops. Can wear white pants. These are NOT proivided by hospital. Will change to hosptial scrubs if c section. Scrub techs do wear hospital provided each day. • OB in house: only if patient in labor. Anesthesia only in house if vbac. • IV Team: No • RT 24/7: Yes • Pharmacy 24/7: Not in house 24/7, but use Phoebe North's if needed, also have an on call pharmacist if needed. • Shifts: 645a, 645p • C-section experience required: Just need to be able to circulate; OR techs must scrub • Floating: Could float to NICU if experienced • Floor specific orientation: Depends on familiarity w/ charting systems; averages 6 shifts. • Common diagnosis / Types of patients: 32 wks or greater if no other maternal risk factors; mothers with underlying health conditions such as CHF usually transferred out; some antepartum care such as mag patients if stable or hyperemesis as long as fairly stable.
