General Information: • Beds: 20; 8 Overflow, 4 CA Chairs • Will you accept a traveler with 1 year experience? Must have 1 yr ED experience within past year, prefer additional 2-5 years nursing experience • Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes, with 3+ years ED experience • Avg patients/day: 100-200 • Patient Types: Neonates to Geriatric 10%-15% pediatrics Chest pain, dizziness, syncope, strokes, sepsis, ortho, resp distress/failure, STEMI, COVID Behavioral Health-Med Clearance • Patient Ratios: RN: 1:3-4 Days, 1:4-5 Nights
Skills required RN: • General ED Skills • Strong IV Skills • Cardiac rhythm interpretation/monitoring • Foley placement/management • NGT placement/management • Knowledgeable in STEMI/CVA/Sepsis treatments • Medication titration
Support on the Unit: • CNA (Ratio): Receptionist/HUC: 24/7 • Charge nurse: will take a patient assignment as needed, will cover low acuity patients • ED Educator: (M-F) • Phlebotomy: assist with peripheral blood draws as needed • IV/VAT Team: Resource Nurse: Flow Nurse- during peak hours • RT: 24/7 • Hospitalist/PA: 24/7 • Telemetry monitoring: Bedside and at the nurses station, no tele tech
Technology/Equipment: • EMR: EPIC (required within the last 2 years) • IV pumps: Alaris • Medication dispensing: Pyxis • Monitors:
Floating: • Based on facility needs • Will not take patient assignment • Will work as helping hands, taskers, sitters, runners • Travelers float first
Orientation: (facility and unit) • 1 Shift of Orientation • First couple hours meet with NM, Supervisor for NEO onboarding, remainder of shift on the unit with preceptor
