MUST Have: • Active ND RN or Compact state License • Minimum of 1 year Med Surg experience, Float Pool is preferred • BLS - must be AHA • EPIC experience • Willing float within MedSurg Cluster and between campuses in Fargo • Experience working within a level 2 or higher trauma center • Experience working in very fast paced hospital with 250+ beds
General job duties. Types of procedures required. • Head-to-toe assessments • Medication administration by a variety of routes • Care plan formulation/documentation • Wound/line/drain care
Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. • Epic EMR • Accudose Rx • Alaris IV pumps • Philips vitals machines
Required skills and minimum years of experience. • Min 1 year recent MS experience in a busy large hospital, min 200 beds. • Previous float pool experience preferred.
Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. • BLS - must be AHA. • ND or compact state RN license.
Shift or schedule requirements. • 12 hour shifts. • Every other weekend and holiday. • 36 or 48 (OT billed after 48). • Will call in daily to find out the unit they are working on for that shift.
Floating to over units/departments. • All med-surg units on Broadway, SMCF and South University (more rare than on SMCF) campuses, including med-surg overflow spaces and med-surg status patients within the critical care units. • Med-surg specialty units include oncology, general med-surg, trauma med-surg, cardiac, neuro, observation, medical behavioral, and innovations.
Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept. • Ranges from 24-47 depending on the unit
Nurse to patient ratio of this unit. • 1:4-5 from 7a-11p • 1:5-6 from 11p-7a
Tell us about the unit/department specific training and orientation program. • Training includes one full shift on a Broadway med-surg unit and one full shift on a SMCF med-surg unit. • Team expectations and campus tours also provided for a few hours during week one of hire.
