Unit Specifics: • Number of Beds: 630 has 34 beds/ 633 has 25 • Patient Ratios: 1:4 to 1:5 on days, 1:5 to 1:6 on nights • Unit staffing description: 3 techs when full on 630 and 2 techs when full on 633 • Type of equipment: bipaps, high flow o2, vapotherm, alaris pumps, cardiac drips, heparin drips, insulin drips, peritoneal dialysis. Wound vacs in conjunction with wound care • Documentation system: Meditech • Scheduling requirements: every other weekend requirement for contract, 3 12 hour shifts a week • Floating policy: may have to float in between PCU units or float to med-surg floors • Patient Experience requirements: hourly rounding on days, every 2 hour rounding on nights, AIDET and keeping up with communication boards on 7th floor. Dept 633 has tv communication boards.
Requested Skill Set: • Must have: Critical thinking skills, EKG rhythm interpretation, cardiac drip, insulin drip and heparin drip experience. Peritoneal dialysis experience preferred and peripheral iv skills. • Advanced skills needed: ACLS. Experience with bipaps, high flow 02 and multiple oxygen delivery systems. Experience with stroke and post cardiac cath care. Peritoneal dialysis experience preferred. Experience with tube feedings and NG/dobhoff tubes. • Procedures performed on unit: Peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertions, dobhoff/NG tube insertions, central line dressing changes.
