EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology Minimum of 2 years experience required
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE ARRT Radiography registration required IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required if working in Illinois Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Performs diagnostic radiographic, portable, c-arm and fluoroscopic procedures. • Reviews patients clinical history ensuring that appropriate order placed and labs are within range as needed- reviewing with radiologist as necessary • Provides patient education. • Selects and operates imaging equipment, image capture devices and accessories to successfully perform procedures. • Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort. • Initiates basic life support when necessary. • Determines radiographic technique and exposure factors. • Follows ALARA principles through accurate exposure factors and radiographic techniques. • Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others. • Reports and documents XR/FL safety incidents/adverse events per protocol. • Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control. • Uses radiology information systems (including PACS), completes all required records and reports, submits images and data for physician review and interpretation. • Assist with medical record/image sharing as necessary. • Documents all information pertinent to XR/FL procedure in electronic medical record to include medication reconciliation • Provides practical instruction for radiography students and partners. • Applies principles of patient safety during procedures, including assisting and transporting patients. • Operates mobile radiologic equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patient's bedside. • Assists radiologist in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations. • Prepares contrast media and assists in administration. • Instruction and expert training to new technologists • Adjust and coordinate patient and staff schedules as needed • Expert level knowledge of electronic medical record, PACS, and imaging equipment
