Unit Information: James Corrections Health Unit - PCU - AYA OFFER. ONCOLOGY EXPERIENCE PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED. EPIC CHARTING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED!
Key Responsibilities: • Float to various Oncology Medical-Surgical (MS) units as needed. • Ensure staff safety in a secure corrections unit environment.
Special Procedures/Unit Details: • Unit is a corrections unit for Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections (ODRC) inmates. • Locked unit with access controlled by Corrections Officers (CO). • CO to inmate ratio: 1:2. • Nurse to patient ratio: 1:3 for PCU and 1:4-5 for MS. • Some shifts will be assigned to MS, and some will be a PCU assignment.
Shifts: • Weekend shifts vary based on unit requirements. • If you accept a 12D/N rotating contract, you may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination of both, depending on the department’s needs. • Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period, but changes are not guaranteed and are based on staffing priorities at that time.

Patient Care and Management: Patient Diagnoses: • Patients with active oncology diagnosis/treatment including both solid tumor and hematology. • Patients who are admitted for oncology workup. • Patients who have a history of cancer but are admitted for other reasons including but not limited to surgical procedures, COPD, sepsis, abnormal labs, pneumonia, etc. • Patients with no oncology diagnosis but admitted for reasons listed above.

Reference Requirements: • 2 professional references are required. • At least 1 reference must be from a manager/director or someone in a formal leadership capacity (e.g., a supervisor). • Charge RN acceptable for 2nd reference. • No coworker references accepted. • Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more. • Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at any Ohio State University hospital location.
